Leading the way – Lord George Robertson at the ESU in Lincoln

Our security and that of our allies, past, present and future, and the urgent need for leadership in protecting our values were key elements of the speech by this year’s special guest Lord George Robertson, former Secretary of State for Defence of the UK and former Secretary General of NATO. Still very much at the heart of decision making today, Lord Robertson brought his local knowledge into descriptions of COP26 as well as past vivid encounters with Vladimir Putin. Seventy members and guests were left feeling more informed, if sobered, by such a personal perspective of international relations. Lincoln College’s staff and students ensured a flawless welcome and service during the evening and the ESU Committee was hugely grateful to them for helping make our 2021 dinner a most enjoyable reality.
