On 6 September Ouse Valley Branch was delighted to welcome Richard Luscombe, volunteer Historic Records Keeper at Wrest Park.
Tracing the history of Wrest Park from the Domesday Book to its ongoing restoration under the management of English Heritage, Richard highlighted the development of the gardens which retain evidence of every significant gardening style from the 17th century onwards. This makes the park a textbook for the evolution of the stately home landscape, as Richards’s lively and humorous talk illustrated.
