Stephen Purcell

Stephen has held a range of senior academic, pastoral and administrative roles in education including leading a marketing team (also in education) involving SWOT studies, public relations exercises and business development strategies. As an English teacher he developed a parallel career in the examinations industry, becoming Chief Examiner for English Literature A level and Chair of English Language. After witnessing the transformative effect upon students of the English Speaking Board’s assessments, he  became Chair of that organisation and oversaw a major reorganisation while ensuring the continuation of its valuable services to candidates of all ages. Having retired from teaching, he has moved back to Wales where he continues to work in examinations and as an educational consultant and is Chair of the South Wales branch of the ESU.
