Lincolnshire kick-starts fundraising

A private view of Doddington Hall’s summer exhibition was the perfect start to the season’s fundraising for Lincolnshire branch

With schools closed and people sensibly staying at home since March, Lincolnshire’s members were only too delighted to break the frustrating period of stasis with a kick-start to 2020 fundraising at the annual ESU Private View of Doddington Hall’s Summer Exhibition. This year’s exciting array of sculptures from leading British and international artists set in the beautiful, verdant gardens and landscape surrounding one of the country’s finest Elizabethan stately homes was all the more poignant for the opportunities for quiet contemplation it offered.

Branch Chairman Michael Graydon extended the ESU’s huge thanks to James and Claire Birch for opening up their home and ensuring guests felt comfortable and safe to enjoy such serene surroundings. This was the first exposure to real-life culture for many of us in far too long and our low-key, socially-distanced event was ideal to send a vital message to the wider community that the ESU is alive and kicking,’ says Michael. When schools are ready, we will be eager to work with them to help our young people develop public speaking and communication skills for the potentially rocky road ahead.’

Doddington Hall’s Summer Exhibition runs until 6 September. Find out more here.
