Epping Forest branch enjoys talk by the Churches Conservation Trust

Today we had the pleasure of a talk by Megan Mitchell on the subject of the Churches Conservation Trust.  We learned that the Trust is funded by Government grants and many charitable organisations to enable repairs/restorations to hundreds of C of E churches which, for whatever reason, are unable to be supported by parishes. In some cases this is because the congregations have left the area due to lack of local employment. In others the churches have decayed due to age and have become unsustainable without external help. This is where the Trust becomes involved and using its volunteers, (of which there are several thousand throughout the country) sets to work in sustaining the churches’ heritage.

It was an interesting talk by a great enthusiast.
