West Sussex Final of the ESU-Churchill Public Speaking Competition

T

The West Sussex Final of the ESU-Churchill Public Speaking Competition took place in the Bishop’s Palace in Chichester on 13 February.  The standard was extremely high and the four teams had taken on board all the advice given by the judges at the heats the previous month.  The worthy winners were Churcher’s College Team 1, with Oliver as Chair, Ellie as Questioner and Amy as Speaker. Well done and good luck at the South East Regional Finals at Dartmouth House.

Our sponsor for the event was John Wiley, Chichester publishers. Their representative Julia Lampam presented the prizes.  Our three judges were Miranda Powell who has become a regular, ably assisted by the Mayor of Chichester, Richard Plowman, and newcomer, The Revd Lindsay Yates. Our thanks to them for an excellent if difficult job.

The South East Regional Finals will be held in London on 18 March.  The National Final will be at Churchill Collage, Cambridge on 24 April.
