Held in the beautiful surroundings of the Sherbourne Room at the Bishop’s Palace in Chichester, our regional final of the Churchill Public Speaking competition gave us a very entertaining afternoon. This event is kindly sponsored by John Wiley the Chichester based publishers.
This year the 4 teams were so close that the judges had a very hard job awarding a winner. Miranda Powell is an experienced judge and examiner, along with former Mayor and Town Crier and City and District councillor Richard Plowman and author and book dealer David Schutte finally made their choice.
The teams were Portsmouth Grammar School (best Chair, Sebastian Filho and outstanding personality Thomas Locke), Churcher’s College Team 1, Ditcham Park School (best Questioner Ella Gordon and runners up). Thomas Locke (PGS) won outstanding personality, and the overall Winners– St Philip Howard Catholic High School (best Guest Speaker Molly Finniear).
All the very best to St Philip Howard for the regional final on 14th March at Dartmouth House.
