Matthew Rycroft in conversation with Alastair Niven

Loading Events

Matthew Rycroft CBE is the Permanent Secretary at the Home Office. This is the most senior civil service position in perhaps the most complex and controversial of all UK government departments.

In this conversation with Alastair Niven, Matthew will talk about the challenges of working on immigration, crime and many other contentious issues. He will also look back on his earlier career, when he was Permanent Secretary at the Department for International Development and before that the British Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

It is extremely rare for such a leading government official to take part in an event like this, and the ESU is privileged to host it. It will be an opportunity to hear from the very inside of government about how some of the most difficult matters of the day are dealt with at the highest level.
