Join the English-Speaking Union for an online event with Jatinder Verma MBE
Born in Tanzania and raised in Kenya until the age of 14, Jatinder Verma MBE has been a formidable figure in the British arts world for over 40 years and is regarded as one of the leading authorities in the country on diversity issues. In 1976 he was the co-founder of Tara Arts, the British Asian theatre company which now has its own Tara Theatre in London. In 1989 he was the first non-white director of a play at the National Theatre. He dramatised the epic Indian text The Mahabharata for the BBC and a few days after he speaks for the ESU he will direct the same work in the West End. Jatinder will begin the evening with a talk on Diversity in the Arts before taking questions from Alastair and the audience.
