The English-Speaking Union welcomes you to an evening of piano music with ESU Music Scholarship alumna Yulia Chaplina at Dartmouth House. The programme will include works from Chopin, Tchaikovsky, and Mozart.
Debuting aged seven with a performance of Bach’s Keyboard Concerto in F minor with the Rostov State Symphony Orchestra, Ms. Chaplina trained in Rostov and Moscow with Naum Shtarkman and with Klaus Hellwig at the University of the Arts in Berlin. She holds a Masters of Music from the Royal College of Music where, in 2013, she was appointed the Mills Williams Junior Fellow. She has performed in recitals extensively across Europe and Asia. Recent orchestral tours and engagements include the Russian Symphony Orchestra, Berlin Sinfonietta, Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra and the Moroccan National Orchestra. We have received enquires regarding Yulia’s nationality. Yulia holds British/Russian citizenship and is a London resident. Her grandfather was Ukrainian and grandmother was Belorussian. Yulia’s mother was born in Ukraine and she has relatives there.
