Performing Shakespeare Competition Wales National Final

Loading Events

The ESU Performing Shakespeare Wales National Final takes place on 20th March 2020, at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Please book a ticket to watch and support the competitors in the Wales area. Come and see our work in action as one of the largest performance competitions in the country.
The English-Speaking Union’s Performing Shakespeare Competition encourages Key Stage 3 and home-schooled pupils in England and Wales to discover the joy of Shakespeare’s words for themselves, inviting them to perform a monologue or duologue from any of Shakespeare’s texts, in whichever way they choose.

Tours of the Royal Welsh College for competitors and workshops by staff and students of the College are also available.

Judges: Maggie Fletcher, Clare Morgan and Katherine Kettle. Prizes to be presented by Chairman, Stephen Purcell and branch President Captain Sir Norman Lloyd-Edwards.

The competition, for students between the ages of 11 and 14, not only brings to life the Shakespeare study requirement in the national curriculum in an innovative and exciting way, it enables students to develop their creativity, their confidence and their ability to express themselves – important skills in the classroom and in the wider world.

With a range of plays and monologues to choose from, this event is guaranteed to entertain.
