Lord Gordon Wasserman, born in Montreal, Canada, he was educated at McGill University and New College, Oxford on a Rhodes Scholarship. After a varied and distinguished career in the Home Office, including 12 years with responsibility for scientific and technological support to UK police forces, he spent 12 years in the USA advising police chiefs in New York, Philadelphia and other cities. From May 2010 to April 2012, he was senior adviser on policing and criminal justice to PM David Cameron and Home Secretary Theresa May.
