London Branch: James Raven talk on ‘The Oxford Illustrated History of the Book.’

Join Professor James Raven LittD FBA, Former Chair of the English-Speaking Union and Fellow of Magdalene College, University of Cambridge, as he reveals the history of books in all their various forms, from the ancient world to the digital present. As well as guiding us through the history of manufacture, craftsmanship, dissemination, reading and debate, Professor Raven will offer insights into the relationship between books and the story of their times.

A pay bar will be open and the talk will begin at 6.30pm in the beautiful Churchill Room in Dartmouth House. Ticket holders are welcome to come earlier and enjoy a light supper beforehand.

Copies of The Oxford Illustrated History of the Book will be available to purchase on the evening and there will be a book signing following the talk.
