About us
A warm welcome to the Liverpool and Merseyside Branch of the English-Speaking Union!
The diverse port city of Liverpool on Merseyside, with its iconic harbour buildings, celebrated its 800th anniversary in 2007 and is, of course, famous the world over as the home of the Beatles – and of two Premier League football clubs, Liverpool and Everton.
Liverpool has a very vibrant cultural life and the members of the English-Speaking Union meet regularly for talks from a wide-range of speakers. We are also actively involved in organising and supporting the local heats of the UK Public Speaking Competition which, along with other ESU educational programmes such as Performing Shakespeare, the Schools’ Mace and the mentor-led Discover Your Voice workshops lie at the core of the ESU’s educational aims.
So, if you are passionate about helping to equip the young with the life skills and confidence they so need in today’s world, please get in touch. You will be making a real difference to your local community as well as joining a worldwide organisation dedicated to improving the life chances of young people everywhere.
We look forward to welcoming you to our branch!
