Oxfordshire branch is delighted to invite members to its Thanksgiving Dinner with a speaker from the Rothermere American Institute. This will be its first event since lockdown and the first chance to get together for nearly two years. There will be a traditional turkey lunch with a vegetarian option, predinner drink and coffee afterwards, served in the lovely upstairs dining room overlooking the golf course and Studley Wood. Dr Nicholas Cole (MA MPhil DPhil Oxf) studies the political thought of the eighteenth and early nineteenth century and is working on a digital project that looks at the way constitutions and treaties have been negotiated over the last two hundred years. His interests are the influence of classical political thought on America's first politicians, and the search for a new ‘science of politics’ in post-Independence America.
