In 2020 the route of the proposed road and rail link between Oxford, Milton Keynes Bedford and Cambridge will be announced. Substantial parts (those from Oxford and from Cambridge) already exist, but plans for the central third - Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, Northants and Bedfordshire – are yet to be decided. The entire project should be up and running by 2030. It involves a massive infrastructure development: industrial and commercial growth and a vast number of new jobs and houses. Is Bedford railway station set to become an international transport hub – with improved north-south links as well as the new east-west links, with connections to airports and the wide world?
