Laurence has spent his career in finance, more than 25 years of it in financial markets research. Most recently, he led the global interest rate strategy teams at investment banks Morgan Stanley and then BNP Paribas. In these roles he was responsible for directing and producing analysis of international bond and derivatives markets; and for presenting analysis and ideas to the bank’s largest clients. He appeared on Bloomberg and CNBC TV and published articles in the Financial Times.
Since leaving investment banking in 2019, Laurence has become an Honorary Senior Visiting Fellow at the Cass Business School. He is a non-executive Director of the Royal Automobile Club.
Laurence was educated at Westminster School in London, at Cranbrook School in Michigan (which he attended under the ESU schools exchange programme) and at Balliol College, Oxford. He holds an MA in Jurisprudence from Oxford University.
