James received a BASS (now our Secondary Schools Exchange) scholarship to the USA in 1974 and became actively involved in the ESU’s activities again in 2014.
His career has spanned Asia, Europe and North and South America as an investment banker and advisor to Governments on their electricity sector. He now runs a fund operation business involved with renewable energy and energy efficiency, among other business interests. James is involved with the ESU’s charitable activities at branch and regional level as an organiser of the ESU-Churchill National Public Speaking Competition for Schools.
He is particularly interested in helping the ESU to raise the resources it needs to implement its charitable programmes and to make the opportunities the organisation offers available to more young people.
