DESCRIPTION:The Salisbury Branch is joined by Gary Price for a lecture on his career and the Salisbury Cathedral. \nOverview: \nGary Price started work at Salisbury Cathedral in 1986 as a stone sawyer\, four years later he became Head of Stone Sawyer. In 2012 he became Clerk of Works and has been instrumental in launching the Sponsor a Stone Scheme. DESCRIPTION:Join the Salisbury Branch of the ESU for a talk by Caroline de Guitaut\, surveyor of the King’s Works of Art at the Royal Collection Trust. \nCaroline de Guitaut\, surveyor of The King’s Works of Art at Royal Collection Trust\, will be joining the Salisbury Branch to give a lecture on the Carl Fabergé collection.  Under her care is a collection of over 700\,000 works of art\, located in 15 royal residences which includes furniture\, sculpture\, metalwork\, ceramics\, textiles\, arms and armour and jewellery including the Crown Jewels. \nThis talk will explore how the collection was formed through six successive generations of the Royal Family from Queen Victoria to King Charles III. Following a career in the City specialising in the medical sector\, he now chairs several public and private companies and a government grant-giving body. He is a warden of the Fishmongers’ Company\, deputy chair of the Royal Humane Society\, and served as High Sheriff of Greater London in 2019. Charles has a PhD in history from London University\, an MA from Cambridge and is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.

Three years later\, with the support of the US and British Embassies in Paris\, Moovida Académie boasts a vibrant English language section. \nNassim Bouguezzi\, a Moovida alumnus with a successful TV and cinema career\, will lead the cast in London. \nAfter the performance\, we are hosting our annual Fourth of July party in honour of the ESU’s Birthday. Originally published in 1985\, during the late Cold War\, the plays bear Hiroshima’s sequels and the fear of nuclear war. Inspired by agitprop partisan theatre\, the nine acts of the play display essential aspects of life\, yet always jousting with paradoxes (Learning\, Love\, Eating\, Selling\, Working…) \nMoovida Académie: \nThis rendition of Red\, Black and Ignorant is produced by Ph’Art et Balises\, a non-profit organisation that has been based in Marseilles’ most deprived areas for 17 years. Its mission is to tackle the deficit of education in priority education zones\, which strikes even more art and culture careers: audiovisual\, cinema\, performing art and music. Each year\, Moovida Cinema and Theatre Academy assists one hundred talented young people from Marseille\, through an alternative training course on cinema\, audiovisual and performing arts careers\, that requires no degree. This project shines a light on the creative potential present in Marseille.

The role of Lord-lieutenant is mirrored across the UK. Julie Spence stands in for the King at any events or duties where it is appropriate for him to be represented. It will be the first of a new occasional series exploring aspects of monarchy in Britain\, how it works and what are its challenges today. \nLord-lieutenant Julie Spence’s Bio: \nJulie Spence has had a long and industrious career spanning nearly four decades. In 2010 she received the Queens Police Medal\, followed in 2021 when she received the Commander of Order of St John for her services to the St John’s Ambulance and the Order of St John. Julie was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s 80th Birthday honours for her management of complex and contentious organisational issues. As well as her strong leadership and determination in taking forward the Gender Agenda and the development of the British Association of Women Policing. Along with many other important achievements during her career. \nWe are honoured to have Julie join us for this evening of special and insightful conversation.
