DESCRIPTION:Bob Johnson is well known to us for his wonderful wildlife photography taken both locally and in Africa.  This time\, he is going in completely the opposite direction and will talk on his recent visit to the Arctic illustrated by his spectacular photographs of the region and its wildlife.  Indeed\, he is so enthusiastic about the area that he will come again to our March meeting to complete the story of his Arctic experiences.

DESCRIPTION:As this is our Christmas’ meeting we have decided to dispense with an outside speaker and make it a more social event with time for chat over refreshments.   We will be showing pictures of some of the holidays and visits which we have had during the Chairmanship of Tony Meagher and we hope that those who enjoyed the events will be happy to reminisce\, whilst those who weren’t able to support the visits programme will be inspired to do so in the future.

SUMMARY:Epping Branch: A talk by Camilla Nicol on the Antarctic Heritage Trust
DESCRIPTION:The Trust exists to protect and conserve British Antarctic Heritage which includes six historic buildings and associated structures along with tens of thousands of artefacts which need great care and protection to ensure they survive in the hostile Antarctic climate.   The most well-known of these sites is Port Lockroy\, where the Trust mans a British Post Office in the Summer Season and provides tourists\, who are fortunate enough to land\, with an insight into the historic working conditions of the original explorers.   Camilla is Chief Executive of the Trust and has\, herself\, recently visited Port Lockroy so she is ideally placed to explain the work of the Trust and its Conservation teams.
