10 things you didn’t know about… coffee

With World Coffee Day looming, we stir up some fascinating facts about this aromatic drink

Did you know that a pot of coffee was the subject of the world’s first webcam? Or that in the 1700s, London had more coffee houses than any city in the Western world, apart from Constantinople? Or that it was the behaviour of goats, after they’d eaten coffee berries, that turned people on to its stimulant effects?

ESU members can read all this and more on our members’ hubsign up here to become a member. And if you prefer drinking coffee to reading about it, do please join us at our Coffee Cocktails event at Dartmouth House on Thursday, 28 September.
