Lord-lieutenant of Cambridgeshire Julie Spence is in conversation with Alastair Niven.

The role of Lord-lieutenant is mirrored across the UK. Julie Spence stands in for the King at any events or duties where it is appropriate for him to be represented. It will be the first of a new occasional series exploring aspects of monarchy in Britain, how it works and what are its challenges today.
Lord-lieutenant Julie Spence’s Bio:
Julie Spence has had a long and industrious career spanning nearly four decades. In 2010 she received the Queens Police Medal, followed in 2021 when she received the Commander of Order of St John for her services to the St John’s Ambulance and the Order of St John. Julie was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s 80th Birthday honours for her management of complex and contentious organisational issues. As well as her strong leadership and determination in taking forward the Gender Agenda and the development of the British Association of Women Policing. Along with many other important achievements during her career.
