York & Yorkshire

Welcome to the York & District branch

The York and District Branch welcomes new members of the English-Speaking Union who live in the Yorkshire area.

We have around 100 members and have been going for a very long time, having been formed around the early Sixties.

Our main activities are running one or more branch heats of the UK Public Speaking Competition and cultural and social exchanges with our twin branch ESU Russia, who we have active links with (the chairman’s daughter even came to visit last year). We do not currently have a committee but nevertheless engage in the social activities of the North Eastern Region. This year, as part of the Region, we shall be visiting Kiplin Hall in the summer and will be holding a dinner in the autumn.

We look forward to meeting alumni and new members at one of our forthcoming events.
