Tunbridge Wells & Kent

About us

A warm welcome to the Tunbridge Wells Branch of the English-Speaking Union!

The town of Tunbridge Wells (officially ‘Royal’ Tunbridge Wells!) is located in a part of the High Weald of Kent designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It became famous as a spa town during the 17th century Restoration period of the monarchy under Charles II.

Our proximity to London enables members to enjoy the facilities on offer at the ESU Headquarters at Dartmouth House. We are also very active locally, particularly with regard to the organisation of the heats of the UK Public Speaking Competition which, together with the Schools’ Mace, Performing Shakespeare and the mentor-led Discover Your Voice schools’ workshops, lie at the core of the educational aims of the ESU.

So, if you are passionate about helping to equip the young with the life skills and confidence they so need in today’s world, please get in touch. You will be making a real difference to your local community, as well as joining a worldwide organisation dedicated to improving the life chances of young people everywhere.

We look forward to welcoming you to our branch!

Give more young people the speaking and listening skills to thrive
