Welcome to the Guildford & District branch
I would like to welcome you most warmly to the Guildford and District Branch. We are a very wide-reaching branch and our committee reflects this diversity. We are a group of people of all ages and backgrounds joined in our mission to promote the ESU, helping to provide opportunities for young people to learn to speak in in public and to help make critical thinkers whilst also having FUN.
We hold evening meetings three times a year in the lighter evenings, to hear talks on a wide-range of topics, and to support and celebrate our branch’s competitors in the ESU competitions. We always have convivial social occasions to which all family or friends are also invited, with entertainment and refreshments.
Our events focus on supporting ESU activities through raising awareness, as well as raising funds. We have been engaged in programmes such as Discover Your Voice Workshops, increasing students’ and teachers’ involvement in ESU programmes. We have also sponsored an overseas exchange and are always happy to receive nominations. We hold local and district branch heats of the ESU-Churchill Public Speaking Competition. We are also very supportive of schools wishing to take part in Performing Shakespeare.
We are a very friendly and lively group of people who welcome new members warmly. If you live in our branch’s wide area and would like to attend our social events, get involved in our projects or help us fundraise, I urge you to join and we will get in touch with you.
