Welcome to the Colchester & Essex branch
Our branch is run by a small committee who are dedicated to the educational charity work of the ESU.
This is reflected in our activities to help people discover their voice in the world, which include the running of successful public speaking competitions for secondary, sixth form and international students, involving schools across a wide area of the county. Our outreach in public speaking also touches both primary school students and the third age.
In planning events, we aim to be as inclusive as possible in delivering content that is both enjoyable and worthwhile at a minimal cost. Guest speakers may reflect artistic, scientific or other cultural interest. Our events are often free of charge and tend to be held on weekday evenings or Sunday afternoons. A few may be after school hours on a weekday afternoon. We believe that, for the most part, education has no age barriers.
We would very much welcome new members to share in the enjoyment of what we do at our friendly and informal gatherings.
