Purchased by the ESU in 1926, Dartmouth House is one of the most notable properties in Mayfair. It is Grade II* listed and is scheduled as a building of national importance.

Dartmouth House plays a variety of roles for the English-Speaking Union;

- It acts as the working offices for the staff of our charity and for meetings of our Governors, UK Branch Chairmen and International ESU Chairmen.

- It provides three impressive reception rooms - the Long Drawing Room, Small Drawing Room and the Churchill Room where we host many finals of our competitions as well as charity receptions and functions.

- Dartmouth House also acts as social meeting place for all ESU members.During opening hours our members have access to the Revelstoke Members’ lounge, our original Louis XIV walnut panelled bar, the Wedgwood Room restaurant and Mayfair’s hidden gem, the beautiful marble courtyard.

- Finally, 30% of all profits raised through the renting of space in the House for weddings, conferences, photo shoots, receptions, lectures and corporate entertaining go directly towards funding our life-changing educational programmes.

When selecting such an unusual and historic venue as Dartmouth House for your event, you can be assured that it will last long in the memories of your guests.

Our rooms can be used independently or as a suite and can be easily equipped with your own lighting, staging and audiovisual systems. From private luncheons for 20 in the elegant Small Drawing Room to formal receptions for 450 in the whole house, each event will receive the same personal attention and attentive service.

With stunning function rooms, a magnificent marble staircase and unique Courtyard and award-winning catering by Harbour & Jones, Dartmouth House makes the perfect venue for any type of event.

The Long Drawing Room

Decorated in the late 18th century style, the Long Drawing Room is perfect for all types of events and features an Adam's fireplace, beautifully draped full-length windows and an ornately carved ceiling.

This striking room accommodates up to 100 guests for a dinner or conference and 120 for a reception. It can also be combined with the Small Drawing Room for larger events.

The Small Drawing Room

This room has all the elegance of the Long Drawing Room, but its smaller scale makes it perfect for more intimate events.

By choosing the Small Drawing Room, your event will benefit from all the grandeur of our unusual venue whilst creating a comfortable and intimate atmosphere - essential for that important business meeting or special dinner.

The Churchill Room

The Churchill Room is a striking, opulent room that features Louis XIV oak panelling, creating a very different atmosphere to the rest of the house. This room is ideal for drinks receptions, dinners or as a ballroom for dancing.

If you are looking for a truly unique room, the Churchill possesses a stately presence to provide a real wow-factor.

The Courtyard

Dartmouth House boasts one of London's rarest features - an enclosed courtyard for hosting open-air receptions. The fountain, architectural style and wrought iron tables and chairs combine to create the atmosphere of a chateau terrace - a private and secluded haven in the middle of Mayfair.

The Courtyard is perfect for alfresco canapé and drinks receptions, either after your conference or before your dinner. Ideal for summer parties and barbecues, it provides a great space for your guests to mix and mingle.

Meeting Rooms

As well as our historic rooms, Dartmouth House also boasts three modern meeting rooms, all fitted with the latest audiovisual equipment and projection screens.

Seating up to 10 people in each room, these spaces are perfect for business meetings. Refreshments and lunches are served directly to the rooms.

Private Hire of the House

Along with its exquisite function rooms, as an exclusive hire you can enjoy the other wonders of the house: the charming marble Courtyard, the original grand staircase with a piano providing an ideal way of entertaining your guests while they sit down to dinner.
