On Tuesday 27th September, 23 members of Mid-Cheshire branch visited Moorcroft Heritage Visitors’ Centre. The visit followed on from a talk given by Kathy Niblit in October 2014 on the history of Moorcroft Art Pottery.
We were taken on a guided tour where all processes were explained and demonstrated from the mixing of the clays, producing the moulds, the application of the design and colour applied to wet clay - highly skilled and painstaking work - and then on to the two firings. Staff took questions as we passed through the different process areas. Before leaving we had time to look around the Moorcroft Museum which was full of beautiful pottery.
After the visit, our coach took us on to the Trentham Garden Centre where an excellent pre-booked lunch was served. It was an enjoyable and informative visit.
