The Chairman of the Exeter and District ESU Paul Waterworth welcomed everyone and introduced the Guest Speaker Hugo Vickers D L, writer, and broadcaster.
Hugo Vickers DL has written many autobiographies about personalities of the twentieth century from the world of film, socialites and many members of The Royal family including The Duke and Duchess of Windsor and the Queen Mother.
More recently Hugo has been involved with broadcasting Royal events and a walkway to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Wedding Anniversary and the plaque in Parliament Square to mark the Diamond Jubilee for her Coronation.
Cecil Beaton the photographer requested Hugo write his autobiography just before he died.

Cecil created many iconic pictures and knew just how to get the people to pose to their best advantage. He photographed film stars, socialites and was a favourite photographer of the Royals.
Along with Stephen Hartnell the couturier he created a glamorous image of the Queen Mother.
He became very well known in the UK with the publication of his pictures in Vogue and Conde Nast. Cecil said that his pictures “Gave something to look………. at and something to dream about.”
