Concert at the Royal Festival Hall

Concert – 3rd December 2017

Eighteen members and friends went by coach to London’s Royal Festival Hall for our annual concert visit arranged as usual by Jean James with her customary efficiency.  The programme this year included Tchaikovsky’s fantasy overture from Romeo and Juliet and then his Piano Concerto No. 1 which featured the pianist Simon Trpceski, who provided a sensational performance.  After a short interval, the concert concluded with excerpts from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet.  The conductor for the entire afternoon was a young lady from Hong Kong, Elim Chan, who is a rising star with many European bookings already logged over the next three years.  Her energy and dramatic style will quickly make her a household name.  It was a terrific afternoon and, unlike last year, everyone made it for the return trip home!
