The ESU has a proven track record of success of showcasing debate as an innovative and exciting new way to approach a variety of topics, including areas of study and areas of the school curriculum not normally associated with persuasive speaking.

Every year, the ESU joins forces with expert organisations to host Great Debates, combining the expert knowledge of our partners with expert debate coaching and judging from Speech and Debate and our mentors.

Throughout the year we hold different Great Debates, for different age groups and on different subjects, from Sixth Form discussions of Henry VIII’s divorce to Year Five and Six debates goal line technology, and everything in between.
