English in Action in Schools
English in Action in Schools is a volunteer led programme which supports children in primary schools who have English as an additional language.
Using games, songs and activities, volunteers work one-to-one or in pairs with a small group of children to build up their confidence and fluency in English. This informal programme provides a much-needed opportunity for children to improve their English outside of classroom lessons and is hugely enjoyable and rewarding for both the children and volunteers.
We are looking for volunteers to start from September who are:
- fluent in English with good pronunciation
- able to use their own initiative
- patient
- reliable
- flexible
- passionate about working with children
Volunteers must commit to one hour a week for at least one full school term. Enhanced CRB checks will be carried out and training will be provided.
We currently work with Ashburnham Community Primary School in Chelsea and are now keen to expand across London and work with more primary schools. Please download and return an application form byThursday 1 September, stating the borough you would like to work in so that we can match you up with a participating school.
Please also contact Jen if you are a school that would like to get involved in this programme.
