Churchill Medal of Honour

Awarding the Churchill Medal of Honour to esteemed speakers

The Churchill medal of honour is awarded every year to those who have promoted the objectives of the ESU through their dedicated and distinctive commitment to the organisation. The medal is awarded at the annual Churchill lecture, where the winner delivers the address.

The ESU has close communication with the Churchill family who enthusiastically support the institution of the Churchill Medal which is given every year to two categories of recipients. The Annual Churchill Lecturers have included The Hon Ronald Reagan, HRH The Princess Royal, Mrs Mary Robinson, President of Ireland, The Hon Dr Henry Kissinger, The Rt Hon Christopher Patten.

In 2009 the Medal was presented to HE Madam Fu Ying, Chinese Ambassador to the Court of St James's.

The ESU has also forged important links with Churchill College, Cambridge who have kindly loaned us a portrait of Sir Winston Churchill, painted during his term in office by John Wilson Jowsey, which now hangs at the top of the Grand Staircase in Dartmouth House.
