The Travelling Librarian Award builds relationships between library and information professionals in the UK and their counterparts in the US and across the Commonwealth. Participants undertake a professional development study tour to explore areas of their professional interest through visiting relevant libraries, information centres and associated agencies.
The award of £3000 is intended to help promote the exchange of ideas through effective communication in the English language, to facilitate learning between cultures and nations, and to encourage the pursuit of best practice within a particular field of professional expertise.
This award is run in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP).
We are not currently open for applications.
Applicants must be UK library and information professionals and a personal member of CILIP at the time of application.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview with a panel of experts from CILIP and the ESU. The successful candidate can then travel any time from the September through to the next April.
