Model United Nations in Dartmouth House

On December 15 the Churchill Room at Dartmouth House was decked out in flags from around the world as young people engaged in the negotiation and debate of Model United Nations. The students came to Dartmouth House through the Challenge Network, which is a fantastic charity working to help people gain skills and confidence and engage in civil projects in their community. We were originally contacted by an alumna of the England World Schools Team, Ally, who now works for the consultancy Bain and who remembers her time at Dartmouth House fondly. Bain sponsored the event and having learnt a bit more about the students involved we were happy to offer the room.
Each student had a mentor from Bain who has been helping them to research their country and the issues which were up for discussion. Amendments to resolutions came thick and fast with negotiations about immigration limits and funding proposals coming from the representatives of countries as diverse as France, South Africa, Pakistan and Somalia.
Feedback from the students has been fantastic with all of them enjoying the chance to come into and use Dartmouth House for such a worthwhile event.
