This year's tour will run from 23 September - 23 November and is an unparalleled opportunity to debate against university teams in large public debates.
This year, the two successful applicants will also have the chance to coach high school student debaters.
The USA debate tour has been running since 1922, and is the oldest and arguably the most prestigious universities debating tour. The tour is the premier opportunity for British debaters to practise their craft and the list of alumni boasts a former British Prime Minister, a Leader of the Opposition, an Archbishop of Canterbury, many senior politicians, journalists and top international businessmen.
All those interested in applying for this tour are asked to send an application, consisting of a suitable debate CV (remembering that you will be involved in a lot of public and show debates while on tour) and a one page covering letter. Your letter should include your involvement with ESU programmes and activities as we will be giving priority to applicants who have helped the ESU in the past.
The dates of the tour can be flexible with those selected leaving in mid-September and returning around Thanksgiving (the last weekend of November).
Applications should reach the ESU no later than 5 pm on Thursday 25 August. These will be assessed by the interview panel, and candidates will be told if they are invited to interview by Friday 26 August.
Interviews will take place in the first week of September. For more information, or to apply, contact Steven Nolan
Please note that this tour is open to UK university students only.
