Lewis Iwu (World Universities Debating Champion, Thailand) and Mary Nugent (Top 10 Speaker English Mace, former Cambridge Director of Debating) are travelling from New York to San Francisco, stopping off at over twenty destinations along the way.

Currently in Ithaca College, they have already been to American Policy and British Parliamentary competitions, won their first show debate, and taught at a juvenile prison.

Each year the ESU sends two UK debaters to the US between September and November, and receives the American National Debate Team in February on their tour of Britain. The tour is the premier opportunity for British debaters to practise their craft and the list of alumni boasts a former British Prime Minister, a Leader of the Opposition, an Archbishop of Canterbury, many senior politicians, journalists and businessmen.

The the annual UK-US exchange is the oldest and arguably the most prestigious universities debating tour. It has been running since 1922.
