Speaker: David Coslett, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Plymouth, Vice Chair, Plymouth Culture Board
David will speak on the Plymouth Culture Forum.
David Coslett, 54, has been appointed permanently to his new post following a period of six months as Acting Dean of the Faculty, which is poised to enter an exciting new era. David’s first task will be to ensure the smooth transition of arts facilities, previously located in Exeter and Exmouth, to the University's brand new multi-million pound arts building, named in honour of the late Vice-Chancellor, Roland Levinsky.

Robert Barclay’s maternal grandmother was an American from Chicago, who set up the ESU in Scotland. Robert went to Rugby and St. Andrews University where he studied Economics and History. His career was in Stockbroking in London, Plymouth and Exeter. Married to Bobbie he has three children and has lived in Devon since 1976.

Sir Antony Acland, former Head of the Diplomatic Service, will be speaking on the subject of "British Foreign Policy - Who's in Charge?"
Sir Antony Acland, is a British Diplomat. The son of Peter Acland and Bridget Susan Barnett, he was educated at Eton College and Christ Church, Oxford, gaining an MA in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, he was British Ambassador to Luxembourg. Head of the Diplomatic Service (Permanent Under-Secretary at the Foreign Office) between 1982 and 1986; Acland was then Ambassador to Washington from 1986 to 1991 under Margaret Thatcher. He was created Provost of Eton College in 1991 and retired in 2000. He was awarded GCMG in 1986, GCVO in 1991 and the Order of the Garter in 2001.

Supper meeting with Dr Fiona MacCarthy, who will be speaking on the subject of "Secrets and Lies: the fascination and perils of delving into other people's lives"
Dr Fiona MacCarthy is the author of acclaimed biographies of Eric Gill, William Morris and Byron. Her new book The Last Pre-Raphaelite: Edward Burne-Jones and the Victorian Imagination will be published in September. Fiona is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, a Senior Fellow of the Royal College of Art and an Hon. Fellow of Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford. She was awarded the OBE for her services to Literature in 2009. She has also been a contributor to the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography and is a regular writer for the Guardian Newspaper.
