'On Writing Biography' - A talk by D. R. Thorpe

Thursday 21 March 2013, 1.30 pm

Join the ESU at Dartmouth House for a fascinating and stimulating talk 'On Writing Biography'. D. R. Thorpe will use specific reference to his own biography of Harold Macmillan to illustrate his talk, after which he will answer questions from the audience.

Thorpe's 'Supermac: The life of Harold Macmillan' won the Marsh Biography award in 2011, with an awards ceremony at Dartmouth House, and has been described as "the best biography of a post-war British Prime Minister yet written" by Vernon Bogdanor, Professor of Government at Oxford University. Thorpe has also written biographies of Sir Anthony Eden and Sir Alec Douglas-Home.

Tickets are £7 and include a glass of wine. We are also pleased to offer members and guests a 10% discount on the day of the event on lunch in the Revelstoke Restaurant at Dartmouth House.

To book your ticket, please contact Peter Jarrold on 020 7529 1582.
